Frequently Asked Questions
1
Do you charge a planning fee?
Typically, there is no planning fee for vacations to Mexico, the Caribbean, or Hawaii, or for cruise vacations. Some customized European and domestic itineraries require a planning fee because of the additional research and coordination involved. If a fee applies to your trip, I will explain the amount and what it covers before beginning the planning process.
2
What does your planning service include?
My services may include researching destinations, recommending resorts or cruise lines, creating a personalized proposal, coordinating accommodations and transportation, booking selected travel components, providing travel documents and reminders, and offering support before and during your trip. The exact services provided will depend on your destination and itinerary.
3
Why should I use a travel advisor instead of booking online?
Online booking sites provide options; I provide personalized guidance. I take the time to understand your travel style, priorities, and budget before recommending an experience. I also help you compare choices, coordinate the details, and provide a trusted point of contact if questions or unexpected issues arise.
4
How does the planning process begin?
We’ll begin with a complimentary 30-minute consultation. During this conversation, I’ll learn about your travel preferences, priorities, budget, and vision for the trip. After the consultation—and payment of a planning fee when applicable—I’ll begin researching and creating your personalized proposal.
5
How far in advance should I contact you?
The earlier, the better. For most vacations, I recommend beginning the planning process at least six to twelve months before departure. Cruises, holiday travel, spring break, destination weddings, group trips, and highly customized international itineraries may require even more time to secure the best availability.
6
Can you work within my budget?
Yes. Being open about your budget allows me to recommend options that are realistic and aligned with your priorities. I will use my knowledge and experience to help you understand what is possible within your preferred price range. If your expectations and budget do not align, I will be honest and discuss possible adjustments.
7
Can you help with group travel?
Yes. I can assist with destination weddings, family reunions, friend getaways, corporate incentive trips, cruises, and other group vacations. Group travel often requires additional time and coordination, so I recommend contacting me as early as possible.
8
Do you recommend travel insurance?
Yes. Travel insurance can help protect your investment when unexpected situations affect your trip. I will provide information about available coverage so you can review your options and make an informed decision.
9
Will you be available after my trip is booked?
Absolutely. My service does not end when your reservation is confirmed. I will provide important travel information and reminders before departure and remain available to answer questions throughout the process. If an issue arises during your trip, I will help you determine the best next steps.
10
Can I make changes after booking?
Changes may be possible depending on the supplier’s policies and availability. Additional costs, penalties, or fare differences may apply. Contact me as soon as possible if you need to change your plans so I can review the available options.
